Index to Gravestone Inscriptions - County Antrim (ref U/A BME 929 5)

Having visited Ballymena Library in January 2010 I came across an index to Gravestone Inscriptions for County Antrim. Family history suggested that my particular line of McShane's originated from Ahoghill Area. There are 3 pages of McLaughlin names from Page 440-442 of the names index and unfortunately I didn't have time on my visit to research these. I did however get a listing of the McShane and McPeake entries and these are summarised below. I also note that there are a number of Bells buried in plots 120 & 130at Ahoghill, Brookside, Ballymena.

There is a listing for St. Mary's RC Church however there are no McShane or McPeake listed in the document. I did check the plot numbers and searched the indexes for other burials. The only plot to have other names listed against it from the list above was plot 133 at Ahoghill. I noted that there is an Elizabeth Cunningham and a Jane McCrea buried in plot 133. This appears to be approximately 10 years after the burial of Joseph McShane. There may be a family connection. There is also a Jane McCrea buried in 1916, however this was a joint funeral as Joseph McCrea also died on the same day. There are McCrea's buried in the adjoining plot, nr 132 and therefore there may not be a family connection.
